Anaheim Ducks owner Henry Samueli was suspended by the NHL yesterday following Samueli’s guilty plea to a federal count of lying to SEC. Samueli is the co-founder of chipmaker Broadcom Corp. and admitted to illegally backdating stock options at Broadcom. The Associated Press reports that Commissioner Bettman would review the status of Samueli’s suspension after he is sentenced on August 18 to see how long his suspension from the league might be, Since Samueli purchased the Ducks the franchise has been highly successful, both in terms of the front office and the team on the ice.
