On Wednesday, July 23, the Atlanta Thrashers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Anaheim Ducks each took significant steps aimed at solidifying their respective coaching cadres for the upcoming season. As reported by the Associated Press and ESPN, the Thrashers came to terms with two new assistant coaches: 47 year-old former Rochester Americans head coach Randy Cunneyworth and 39 year-old former Chicago Wolves assistant Todd Nelson. Along with incumbents Steve Weeks and Tony Begford, they will support head coach John Anderson when the team opens their 2008/09 season against the Capitals on October 10.
