Buffalo Sabres Managing Partner Larry Quinn and Chief Operating Officer Dan DiPofi have become minority partners. The two executives that rejoined the Sabres in 2003 after B. Thomas Golisano purchased the team in 2003 have been granted the minority stake. As reported by The Buffalo News: “This announcement marks the culmination of a process that really goes back to my original acquisition of the franchise in 2003,” Golisano said in a statement. “Both Larry and Dan were instrumental with regard to my purchase of the Sabres and continue to be an important part of the organization’s success today.” The article further reports that the significance of the change is unknown. However, Golisano has been exploring political interests, which could alter the ownership landscape. On the roles that Quinn and DiFofi have had with the organization, The Buffalo News further reports: Quinn spearheaded the design and development of HSBC Arena, which opened in 1996, and then served as team president. DiPoficurrently focuses largely on business operations as they relate to the league’s collective bargaining agreement. He ascended to executive vice president with the team before leaving in 1998 following the Knox family’s sale. OTHER NEWS ACROSS THE BUSINESS OF SPORTS NETWORK
