NHL Powered by ReebokIn its first year of being open, the NHL announced today that the NHL Powered By Reebok retail store in New York City is expected to more than double its projected sales figure for 2008.

“We are thrilled with how the store did during its first year,” said Anderson McNeill, Head of Global Retail for Reebok. “Its success is due in large part to our wonderful partnership with the NHL. Despite the current retail climate, sales figures attest to the fact that hockey fans around the world are supporting their teams.”

“Our goal going into this project was to create a living, breathing showcase for our brand and a meeting place for our fans from around the world,” said Brian Jennings, NHL Executive Vice President of Marketing. “Fan’s reception to NHL Powered By Reebok exceeded our expectations, and we will continue to work with Reebok to provide a premiere shopping experience that includes fresh products and exciting programming year-round.”

Among the interesting facts and figures about the store and its first year are:

The top selling item at the NHL Powered By Reebok store were the new Reebok Edge NHL Jerseys - followed by hats, NHL collectibles and Reebok footwear

The 10 top selling teams at the NHL Powered By Reebok store were:

1.      New York Rangers

2.      Pittsburgh Penguins

3.      New Jersey Devils

4.      Detroit Red Wings

5.      NY Islanders

6.      Philadelphia Flyers

7.      Toronto Maple Leafs

8.      Buffalo Sabres

9.      Boston Bruins

10. Washington Capitals

The store is the only U.S. retail location carrying both Sidney Crosby's SC87 line of Reebok apparel and Alex Ovechkin's new Ovechkin Streetwear Collection from CCM Hockey

New for Fall 2008, is the introduction of the Mitchell & Ness NHL Collection, featuring authentic, vintage-inspired NHL apparel.
