NHL and XM Offer First Live Simulcast of a Satellite Radio Broadcast

Today, the NHL Network will begin simulcasting the daily XM Radio presentation of the show “NHL Live”. As reported on NHL.com, the networks have agreed to share the radio content, broadcast from New York City, with the U.S. and Canadian audiences of the NHL Network. Additionally, NHL Net will re-air the programming daily beginning at 5:00PM.

The show covers the gamut of NHL topics, and includes commentary, interviews with league players, coaches, and executives, and also takes phone calls from listeners. To the latter category, they may now add ‘viewers’. The exposure can only help XM Radio grow the current subscriber base of just under 14 million listeners, and will also offer a much wider audience for the NHL Network (currently available in over 86 million homes).
